1. Azek Decking- Pelican Waters

Trade Builders Supplies was engaged to help with this very glamorous deck rejuvenation project in Pelican Waters. Excessive sun, wind & salt spray had all started to take their toll on the existing 140mm x 25mm hardwood decking. The design brief was simple: Keep the existing deck sub-frame and replace the timber decking with a great looking product that can withstand the harsh elements. Azek Vintage Coastal was the composite decking of choice. Not only is it highly resistant to decay & fading with a 50 year warranty, it also has three huge advantages over most other composite decking products:
  1. P5 Slip Rating (level of grip) – The highest slip rating possible
  2. Minimal Heat Retention – Perfect as this deck is completely exposed to the sun
  3. Minimal expansion – Only 2mm required for butt-joins between boards
To finish it off, both 140mm & 184mm wide boards were used, fascia boards over the water were installed and a matching handrail was created at one end. This deck is an entertainers dream. Azek Decking

2. New Techwood Decking – Cannon Hill

There were only two design requirements that Trade Builders Supplies needed to achieve for this East facing, new deck in Cannon Hill:
  1. Keep maintenance to a minimum
  2. Achieve a BAL rating of 12.5
While most composite decking types are low in maintenance, there’s only a handful that will achieve any type of BAL rating. Thankfully, New Techwood Decking has a BAL rating of 29, well in excess of the required rating for this particular project. New Techwood decking doesn’t require much in the way of maintenance at all, only an occasional clean (like you would for any type of deck). This is perfect for the client, who is a FIFO worker and doesn’t want to waste their precious time at home oiling and sanding a timber deck. This decking was installed with breaker boards, which is the recommended practice for New Techwood decking and has come up a treat with the Teak colour and woodgrain finish.

Eva-Last Pioneer Decking – Bald Hills

Pool areas are tough on decking, so this specification needed a resilient choice. Add in a design brief that called for a genuine timber aesthetic, and you now have a limited number of selections that would actually fulfil these requirements.

While some composite decking types try to emulate timber looks somewhat effectively, Eva-Last Pioneer is the one that does it the best, by far. High resolution, digital scanning of actual timber has been used to give the closest look to actual timber decking. Most people will never know the difference once it’s installed.  This decking is suitable for low to ground decks, isn’t affected by pool chemicals and is available in two beautiful species / colours – Spotted Gum and Blackbutt (featured here).
